Major Lessons from this Concept: Sometimes the only way to help organizations avoid embarrassment, humiliating visibility, enormous litigation, and just plain stupidity is to illustrate dramatically the pattern of behaviors and attitudes that lead to catastrophic reputational trouble. This is the pattern I call, “Profiles in Failure.” You will recognize it; you do already.

1. These behaviors are easily spotted and their impact predictable and perhaps preventable.
2. If you are really looking for trouble, here’s the way to quickly multitask your way into long-term difficulty.
3. In every instance of management embarrassment, I watch managements go through this pattern, beginning with denial, usually in this order.

 The BIG Lesson: Execute these behaviors in any order, and I guarantee trouble, serious reputational problems and brand damage. By the time you recover – if you do –  some career-defining moments will have been experienced. A new team may be coming to replace you and yours in the meantime.
